So many succumb to the siren song of the socialists. And it never works out the way they promise. Biggest issue is the scum always rises to the top, regardless of the system.

You also say that crushing rent, taxes, and red tape caused an absence of proper grocery stores over the years; yet, this pilot goes exactly after that by waiving rent, cutting taxes, and using public land. The difference is savings are guaranteed to go to shoppers on basics, rather than private profits. Seems worth trying, especially if the status quo is a documented failure by your own admission.
